Best Bargain of My Life

Recently, I picked up a set of
4 dining chairs at a garage sale for $1 each.

“Wow,” I thought to myself.
“These are pretty nice chairs even though
they are a little wobbly and could use
some creative reinforcement.”

I flipped the chairs over and noticed
the Crate & Barrel labels
under the seats.
I could hardly contain my excitement.

“I bet these are worth a good $40 each, and
I can get all of them for less than $5?
Heck yeah!
Even if all of them aren’t salvageable,
it’s a great deal.
I’m sold.”

After the chairs got a better inspection at home,
Brian and I agreed that
one is beyond repair.
One back leg has a long split in it
and it can’t handle any more pressure.

I drove to Crate & Barrel
and found the exact chairs…

ON SALE FOR $159 each!

THEY’RE TYPICALLY $179 each!!!!

That’s right!
For the original shaky set, I would have paid
$716. Excluding tax and (a likely) delivery fee.

That’s a 99.999% discount!

Now I’m on the hunt for another
DEEPLY discounted Madison Chair to go
with my three orphaned chairs.

After all, they’re worth too much to just throw away!

And too wobbly to pay anywhere near full price.

  • Life’s Prayer

In this battle that goes on through life, I ask for a field that is fair. With a chance that is equal to all in the strife, and the courage to do and to dare. If I should win, let it be by the code, with my faith and my honor held high. If I should lose, let me stand by the road, and cheer as the winners go by.
