Bad News or Good News?

Watching the Obama Inauguration,
I realized a difficult reality was staring me in the face.

(Former) Mayor Ron Kirk won’t be coming back to Dallas anytime soon!

Since Mr. Kirk quit his mayoral role,
Dallas suffered from the (for lack of a better word) leadership of Laura Miller.
So, in May 2008, I flexed my impressive persuasion skills and typed Ron an email,
asking him to run for another North Texas mayoral position,
preferably in Plano where I now reside.

I received an automatic reply, which said he was out of his office.
Soon afterward, I noticed him on TV with the Obama campaign.

Then, in December, after Obama won the election,
Obama added Ron Kirk to his cabinet as U.S. Trade Representative!

Oh well. We’ll continue to miss him
but I know he’ll represent Texas well.

  • Life’s Prayer

In this battle that goes on through life, I ask for a field that is fair. With a chance that is equal to all in the strife, and the courage to do and to dare. If I should win, let it be by the code, with my faith and my honor held high. If I should lose, let me stand by the road, and cheer as the winners go by.
